Japan
Japan is one of those countries that surprises you even when you think you’ve done your homework. It’s modern but deeply traditional, chaotic yet peaceful, busy but still full of shrines where a single ringing bell can silence an entire crowd.

At a glance
Japan: From the lens of natives
Japan isn’t just another stamp in our passports—it’s the place we’ve called home for over two years now. While most people explore Japan in a whirlwind week, we’ve discovered it slowly, intentionally, and in between our regular 9-to-5 lives. From sprinting to catch last trains after work to hopping on early-morning Shinkansen for weekend getaways, our adventures here have been stitched into everyday life.
Every prefecture has surprised us in its own way- Skiing in the snow-capped mountains of Hokkaido to diving through the caves of Okinawa, and somehow, Japan still finds new ways to amaze us even after all this time.
Welcome to our Japan—let’s explore it together. Here are our recommendations, feel free to mix & match depending on your time, budget, and travel style.
